~ Dragonball (Z) Kai - The Story So Far… ~ Posted on Wednesday 14 April 2010
Yup, as promised, the Kai article gets released today!
The logistics of it is that I am evaluating where the series stands at the moment, and essentially how good a job it is doing, or at least has done in the last year (seeing as the 52nd episode came out last Sunday). Here is a short extract:
"Watching the actual content, the episode itself couldn't be cut away completely (because some canon sections were in there, such as the Namekians being brought back to life by the Earth Dragonballs), but I suppose it would have been too much of a cut to get rid of the whole Gohan segment (they'd probably even need to paint him out of a few frames, which wouldn't have been worth the hassle I suppose, seeing how the rest of the episode played out)."
Remember, I didn’t make the article to bash the original or Kai itself, but merely to assess where it stands as a piece commemorating 20 years of Dragonball and how the new audience may or may not find it.
Perhaps as more tie-in pieces to Kai, I may do reviews of individual episodes; especially with regards to the pacing of them.

Sorry that the update tonight is a little short, but I’m rushing essentially to keep to the deadline (which I’ve still missed by a few minutes xD) (Click image on the left)
Here is the Goku as promised with the alterations (probably will still undergo some fixes). Hopefully the next sprite updates will be the Tao with his Cyborg form and after that a more refined Legendary Super Saiyan Broly with the suggestions from MCX, Rav and Devons.
Since I’ve still not gathered the images for the Kai article, I will be releasing it raw tomorrow (unsure about a time though, so watch out – Wednesday 14th April is a definite though.
Extreme apologies people on the lack of updates lately. I don’t even think that I can blame reality for this; it really just comes down to how bothered I am to get off my ass and make the time to do the work. Again, I am sorry.
I already made a few Goku hairs some time ago for you to see and evaluate, but looking back at them now I don’t even think they’re up to scratch any more. As such, I’ll be redoing them once again; however they are still a part of this update for content’s sake.
One of the guys requested to do was Mercenary Tao Pai Pai (albeit in his robotic form). I decided to do him prior to that tragic injury happening, so that once C+C is done on that, it is a simple case of conversion and adding in a few signature poses.
So without much ado – Mr Pai Pai! (Click image on the right – note: there is only one pose, and the Goku is also part of that update)
As for the news on how the Kai article is going: the write-up is complete, so I am just deciding whether or not to include comparative images to spice it up a bit. Expect it soon; if I don’t get any images by Wednesday then expect it on Thursday without them, since I promised that it would be up in a few weeks. Also, be prepared for the length of it: just as text, it is roughly 5 full sides of A4 with text size 11 in Calibri.
Also, I thought I may as well explain part of the reason for my lack of site activity with regards to DBZ Vortex. I am working on reviving it through a new Content Management System that doesn’t just do news like CuteNews does, but the entire site; news, content pages, vaults--everything. This will not only make the management of it a lot easier from the front end, but it will enable me to have users who want to help me maintain it register and be given the jobs of inserting new sheets into the various vaults. As such, it will make things far quicker than they ever have been in the past, way more interactive in terms of the dynamic content generated, and who knows, maybe we can finally have a “One-Shot Vault” for the particularly good works that come out in the Dragonball Universe section of the forum.

Thanks for the C+C on the latest Broly and Vegito work – as promised, alterations have been made (taking into consideration pretty much everything that has been said), so here you go! (Click image on the left) Thanks especially to MasterChefX for the suggestions.
Haven’t decided exactly what will be coming out next – The Real Radioactive made some suggestions (Tien, Yamcha, Roshi), so I’ll probably try those – it is better to deviate from the whole Saiyan set and do the more unappreciated characters. Also, I may attempt to get up an article within the next few weeks with regards to the progress made on Dragonball Kai – this weekend the raw of Episode 50 comes out, so let’s see how well they’ve managed to condense the 291 episode series down.
